The workshop will be led by Origami artist Reza Nagree, a native of Austin, Texas, and highly experienced in the art of Origami. Reza's passion for Origami sparked at the age of 4, and he has been folding ever since. Eventually, his passion led him to fold more complex models, and he has even started to create his own designs, some of which have been taught at origami conventions and even featured in the “Origami by Children” exhibition through OrigamiUSA.

Origami is something that many people know of. Cranes, fish, and boxes are probably some of the things that come to mind when someone hears “origami.” However, origami is something so much more than just birds and boats. The art of origami has developed into an extremely intricate art form, with many complexities most people haven’t even heard of. When was the last time you heard of 10% carbon methyl-cellulose being used to treat paper? How about using circle packing as a method of designing 22.5 models? When have you ever read a 24 grid box-pleated crease pattern? These are just a few of the things that we will do over the course of these next 4 days. This is a course that will take a deep dive into what origami is and the limits to which it can be pushed. We will be looking through different things like folding techniques, diagrams, crease patterns, different types of paper, and more. In the 4 days of the course, you will have the fundamental skills needed to start or elevate your paper folding journey. Of course, you can't learn everything in just 4 days, but the course will give a very solid base and framework for you to build up your skills in the art of origami.
